The Story
Maria wanted to visit her friend, Anna. She went to the bus station to take the bus to Anna’s house. Maria was very excited to see her friend. The sign said bus number five goes to the park near Anna’s house, so she waits for that bus.
A big, blue bus arrives. It had the number five on the front. Maria got on the bus and found a good seat near the window. She was happy and looked outside. The weather was very nice and sunny, and the birds were singing in the trees.
After about ten minutes, Maria looked out the window again. The streets and houses looked very different. She did not know this part of the town. She started to feel a little afraid. She saw a kind woman sitting next to her and asked, “Excuse me, is this bus going to the city park?”
The woman smiled and said, “No, dear. I think you are on the wrong bus. This bus goes to the beach.” Maria was very surprised. She had never been to the beach in this town. “Oh no,” Maria said. The woman told her not to worry and that the beach was a beautiful place.
Maria thought for a moment and then she smiled. She decides to stay on the bus. Soon, she could see the big, blue ocean. She called her friend, Anna, and told her the funny story. Anna laughed and said she would come to the beach. It was a mistake, but it was a happy one. Maria bought an ice cream and waited for her friend by the water.
