The Story
One Tuesday evening, the sky outside became very dark. A big storm was coming to the town. The Miller family was inside their warm house. Together, they went around and closed all the windows to get ready.
First, the wind began to blow. It made a loud noise as it moved through the trees. Then, the rain started to fall. It was not a light rain; it was very heavy. Mr. Miller was a little worried because they had a very old tree in their garden.
Suddenly, with a loud thunder sound, all the lights in the house went out. It was completely dark inside. The two children, Leo and Mia, were a little afraid of the dark. Their mother calmly went to a drawer and found some candles. She lit them, and a small, warm light filled the room.
To help the children feel better, their father decided to tell a funny story about a talking cat. The family sat together in the living room. Mrs. Miller made hot chocolate for everyone, and they all listened to the story. They started to feel safe and happy together.
After about an hour, the wind and rain stopped. The storm was over, and the lights in the house came back on. The family went outside to look. The old tree was still standing. The air was cool, clean, and fresh after the rain. It was a night they would all remember.
