Prepositions of Place
Prepositions of place are small words that tell us the location of something. The most common prepositions of place are `in`, `on`, and `at`, and they can be tricky because they don’t always translate directly from other languages.
Scope & Content:
- IN: For enclosed spaces and large areas.
- ON: For surfaces.
- AT: For specific points or locations.
⚠️ Attention: Common Challenges
`IN` – Enclosed Spaces & Areas:
- Rooms: in the kitchen, in my bedroom
- Containers: in a box, in a bag
- Cities/Countries: in London, in Brazil
- Books/Papers: in a book, in the newspaper
`ON` – Surfaces:
- Flat surfaces: on the table, on the floor
- Streets/Roads: on Oxford Street
- Public Transport: on the bus, on a train
- Media: on the radio, on TV, on the internet
`AT` – Specific Points:
- Specific addresses: at 123 Main Street
- Specific locations: at the bus stop, at the airport, at school
- General locations: at home, at work
- Top/Bottom/End of something: at the top of the page
